Where we started.
In 2004, Ross Doonan launched his business venture with eldest daughter Meika in a small factory in Mittagong, NSW.
Drawing strength from their belief in the product and the success of other family-run enterprises, the Doonans navigated challenges like early start-up hurdles and the Global Financial Crisis. Over time, the family expanded their team—Ella propelled their marketing forward, Clare rose to factory manager, and Ross’s wife Alison lent support with admin and exhibitions—solidifying a tight-knit, driven family business.
Their breakthrough came with the success of DecoWood®, a timber grain powder coating that stirred excitement in the architectural community.
No longer just an imaging business, Decorative Imaging rebranded to DECO in 2018 with the help of Ella’s creative skills and strategic thinking. They also moved to a much larger new location in Minto NSW whilst also establishing their new arm, Deco Industrial – a range of protective metal coatings and finishing techniques to complement their ever-expanding architectural range.
As it moves into a new era, DECO continues to be an innovator in aluminium building products and metal finishing technologies.
